Are we so back? The new Resident Evil reboot from Weapons director Zach Cregger seems to be hitting well with audiences and critics. Zach Cregger’s movie stars Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier who agrees to deliver a package to a hospital in the dangerous world of monsters, mutants, viruses, and other terrors where the Resident Evil games take place. It also stars Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, Johnno Wilson, Sara Paxton, and others. It’s gory, with a pandemic angle, and kinda/sorta follows some elements of the plot of Resident Evil 2 from 1998 if you’re a gamer.

When will Resident Evil (2026) be streaming?

If what’s best for you is waiting to watch on a streaming service, you’re going to have to wait. You knew that though, right?

Let’s use a recent-ish Sony movie as an example: Project Hail Mary. That movie was released in cinemas back in March, on PVOD in May, and on MGM+ and Prime Video in June. Following that calendar, we can estimate that the Resident Evil reboot will be available for PVOD in November and streaming in/around December. Pair it with a rewatch of Dash & Lily for the weirdest Austin Abrams marathon yet.

Where will Resident Evil (2026) be streaming?

Sony doesn’t really have a dedicated streaming service, like Disney and Warner Brothers. The franchise is, no offense, all over the place. The original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Degeneration are not streaming. Resident Evil: Apocalypse is streaming on AMC+. Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Damnation, Resident Evil: Retribution, Resident Evil: Vendetta, and Resident Evil: Death Island are all on Netflix. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is on Hulu. (So are Vendetta and Damnation in addition to streaming on Netflix, randomly.) Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is on Hulu, FX Now, and Disney+.

But if you’ve noticed from that exercise that Netflix and Hulu are the common denominators, you’re on to something. Plus, thanks to a recent-ish distribution deal per Variety, we can expect Sony Pictures movies like this to land on Netflix. Let’s hope that narrows it down correctly!
