Prince Harry’s Controversial Plan to Honor Princess Diana Sparks “Intense Frustration” From the Other Royals

Prince Harry and his family are now officially back in the UK—but sadly, it doesn't sound like his long-standing rift with his brother, Prince William, is any closer to healing, especially, according to royal experts, with Harry's new plans to honor their late mother, Princess Diana, causing “intense frustration.”

Next August will mark 30 years since Diana tragically passed away, and it's said that Prince Harry is planning to create a film about his mother and her legacy, with the Daily Express reporting that the King's youngest son has started reaching out to Diana's friends asking if they'd be open to an interview for the project.

The Daily Mail's editor-at-large, Richard Kay, remarked that “when they made, nine years ago, those documentaries to mark the 20th anniversary of their mother's death, that was the last time they were really in step together... William is just as much his mother's son as Harry is” and that Harry's seeming attempt to steer Diana's memory all by himself is causing “intense frustration.”

Kay added, “This issue of trying to use Diana, the Spencer brand, the Spencer name, to divide himself away from the House of Windsor, I think is something we're going to see even more of. Let's not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July, it was Diana's family at Althorp.”

Robert Jobson, author of several royal books (including two focused on Princess Diana), agrees that the 30th anniversary is going to be a pivotal moment for the brothers.

“How can they not be together? There's going to be a moment where there has to be some form of arrangement for the 30th anniversary of Diana's death. They have to be on the same stage.”

Elsewhere, Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, also recently announced an upcoming book about the late Princess of Wales, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.
