Brooklyn Film Festival Unveils 2026 Lineup Featuring 134 Films (EXCLUSIVE)

The Brooklyn Film Festival has set the lineup for its 29th edition, themed “The Invitation,” with 134 films, including 36 world premieres, set to screen from May 29 through June 7 across venues in Fort Greene, Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

This year’s program spans 30 countries and includes 11 narrative features and seven documentary features, alongside a broad shorts slate. The festival will present 50 narrative shorts, 17 documentary shorts, 24 animated films and 21 experimental works, in addition to dozens of premieres across categories, including U.S. debuts, East Coast premieres and first-time New York screenings.

Opening night will feature the New York premiere of “A Mosquito in the Ear,” directed by Nicola Rinciari and starring Jake Lacy, Nazanin Boniadi and Ruhi Pal. The film follows a couple traveling to Goa, India to bring home their adopted daughter, only to encounter unexpected resistance that complicates their plans.

Screenings will take place at BRIC Arts Media House, 100 Sutton Studios and the Wythe Hotel, with an online component available throughout the festival. The BFF Exchange returns June 3 and 4 at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, featuring panels, tabling and a short film pitch contest for documentary and narrative filmmakers.

Additional events include a collaboration with E-Flux on artists’ cinema, a documentary shorts program presented by Vice Sports and a curated selection of queer films at Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturdays programming.
