‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

The news comes roughly two weeks after the series premiered on Oct. 10. The first season consisted of eight episodes. Hayley Atwell provides the voice of Lara Croft. The show received mostly positive reviews from critics upon its release, with Season 1 holding a 73% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The official logline for Season 2 states:
“When adventurer Lara Croft (Atwell) discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam (Karen Fukuhara) to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara’s thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.”

In addition to Atwell and Fukuhara, additional members of the Season 1 voice cast include: Allen Maldonado, Earl Baylon, Richard Armitage, Zoe Boyle, Roxana Ortega, and Nolan North.
The series is written and executive produced by Tasha Huo. dj2 Entertainment founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson serves as an executive producer alongside Timothy I. Stevenson, Jacob Robinson via Tractor Pants, Dallas Dickinson and Noah Hughes for Crystal Dynamics, and Howard Bliss and Jen Chambers. Powerhouse Animation is the animation studio, with Brad Graeber serving as executive producer.
The original “Tomb Raider” video game was released in 1996 on the Sega Satrun by developers Core Design and Aspyr and had sold over 2.5 million units by 1997. As of 2024, 20 “Tomb Raider” games have been released. The game was adapted into a multi-film “Tomb Raider” movie franchise starring first Angelina Jolie and later Alicia Vikander as Croft.
