‘Shrinking’ Visits ‘Sesame Street’ to Film Six Original Segments and Take Adorable Portraits (EXCLUSIVE)

by · Variety

Apple TV’s “Shrinking” is all about trying to find that sunny day, sweepin’ the clouds away and going on your way to where the air is sweet. So it’s only natural that the series’ stars found their way to “Sesame Street.”

Earlier this month, the “Shrinking” stars took time between various Emmy FYC events in New York to visit the famed preschool series’ studios, where they took portraits with the “Sesame Street” characters and fimed six original segments. “Shrinking” cast members Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley taped video segments with “Sesame Street” icons Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grover, Abby Cadabby and Oscar the Grouch, while “Shrinking” player Sherry Cola also joined in for the group photos.

Among the “Sesame Street” segments are topics that fit in well with “Shrinking,” including asking for forgiveness, being brave, and what it’s like to be a good friend.

For Muppet fanatics and longtime “Sesame Street” supporters Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, this was a chance to share their passion with their “Shrinking” colleagues.

“’Sesame Street’ and The Muppets were really my first introduction to comedy, and puppetry is where I learned how to play other characters who felt different than myself,” Segel told Variety. “I’ve always felt that puppetry is a gateway to empathy because, if we can see ourselves in a big yellow bird, or a green frog, then maybe we can see ourselves in one another.”

This repped the first time “Sesame Street” shot with an entire ensemble cast; its other recent collabs with actors include Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Sterling K. Brown, Michael B. Jordan and more.

The original clips will be available via the @SesameStreet handle on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
