Starting in 1991, director John Singleton releases his debut film “Boyz n the Hood” at age 23. Over the next 10 years, Singleton released a loose trilogy with “Poetic Justice” and “Baby Boy.” And now, the Criterion Collection released a premium box set with all three movies on 4K Ultra HD.
Available starting at $87.49 (reg. $124.99) on Amazon, John Singleton’s “Hood Trilogy” box set is now available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD disc.

John Singleton’s “Hood Trilogy” in 4K Ultra HD comes in a four-disc set: The first three discs feature the movies themselves digitally mastered in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR, surround 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio for “Boyz n the Hood” and “Poetic Justice” and an alternate 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack for “Baby Boy.” Disc four is a Blu-ray with additional bonus features.
Bonus features include artwork by Ngabo “El’Cesart” Desire Cesar, new making-of documentary, three commentary tracks with John Singleton, music videos, a handful of deleted scenes, original trailers and ads, and other bonuses. It comes with an essay from film critic Julian Kimble too.

Written and directed by John Singleton, “Hood Trilogy” explores life and death in the Black community living in South Central Los Angeles in California.
The trilogy stars (“Boyz n the Hood”) Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr., Morris Chestnut, Larry Fishburne, Nia Long, Angela Bassett and Regina Kingand; (“Poetic Justice”) Janet Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Tyra Ferrell and Joe Torry; and (“Baby Boy”) Tyrese Gibson, Snoop Dogg, Ving Rhames, Omar Gooding, A.J. Johnson, Taraji P. Henson and others.
