New Movies Out Now in Theaters: What to See This Week 

It can be tricky keeping track of which movies release each week, especially with the holiday season ushering in a tidal wave of awards films and four-quadrant blockbusters. With 2024’s biggest films just around the corner, check out what is coming to theaters in November.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, “Moana 2” is expected to become one of the biggest animated hits of the year. Following the original Oscar-nominated film, this sequel brings audiences along for a new adventure with Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) as she journeys to Oceania. The voice cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Hualalai Chung, Rose Matafeo and David Fane.

Also releasing Wednesday is A24’s “Queer,” Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ novella. The film stars Daniel Craig as Lee, an older man who becomes obsessed with understanding his younger partner, Eugene Allerton, played by Drew Starkey.

One of the biggest limited releases of the week is “The Seed of the Sacred Fig,” a thriller exploring political unrest in Tehran that was selected by Germany for the Best International Film submission at the Academy Awards. There’s also “Reinas,” the Swiss entry, which follows two sisters as they reunite with their mysterious father amid pressures to leave the country. Keep an eye out for “From Ground Zero,” “Nightbitch,” “The End” and “Y2K,” all of which release next week.
