‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Struts to Second Week Victory at U.K. and Ireland Box Office

The sequel has now amassed a cumulative total of $28.5 million after 11 days in theaters.
Universal’s musical biopic “Michael” maintained a strong presence in second place, earning $6.8 million in its third week, bringing its total to $45.3 million.

“The Sheep Detectives,” distributed by Sony, made a notable entrance at number three debuting with £$4.4 million in its opening weekend.
The concert film “Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour,” distributed by Paramount, secured fourth place with an opening of $2.4 million. Rounding out the top five was Warner Bros.’ “Mortal Kombat II,” which earned $2.1 million during its debut frame.
Universal’s “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” continued its long-term run in sixth place, adding $642,427 to a total that now stands at $49.9 million after six weeks. “Project Hail Mary,” distributed by Sony, followed in seventh, earning $389,703 in its eighth week for a $45.7 million cume.
Black Bear’s “Hokum” took eighth place with $376,032, while Universal’s “Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition” debuted in ninth with $280,504. Rounding out the chart were “The Magic Faraway Tree” from Entertainment Film Distributors at number 10 with $163,809 and “The Drama” in 11th with $115,111.
Looking ahead, Paramount will lead the anniversary charge with a 40th-anniversary screening of “Top Gun” alongside a re-release of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Universal brings a 25th-anniversary re-release of the DreamWorks classic “Shrek” to over 300 locations, while Warner Bros. marks the 30th anniversary of “Space Jam.”
New releases also include Steven Soderbergh’s “The Christophers” via Picturehouse Entertainment, starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel, which opens in 300+ locations. Vertigo launches “Normal” starring Bob Odenkirk, while Universal debuts Curry Barker’s “Obsession.” International and indie offerings include Zee Studios International’s “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do,” Central City Media’s “Ciao UFO,” and Mubi’s Hungarian drama “Orphan” from László Nemes. Other specialized releases include Munro’s “Northern Soul: Still Burning,” TAPE Collective’s “Queer As Punk,” BFI Distribution’s 4K restoration of Guillermo del Toro’s “Cronos,” and a 4K restoration of “Wake In Fright” from Arrow.
