Tay Keith, Producer of Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode’ and Drake’s ‘Nonstop,’ Dies at 29

Tay Keith (real name: Brytavious Chambers), the Grammy-nominated producer behind such hits as Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode’ and Drake’s ‘Nonstop,’ was found dead Thursday in his Nashville apartment, local police confirm.

No cause of death was announced. A report from Nashville police reads:

“No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as Grammy nominated record producer Tay Keith. He was found dead in his Martin St. apt. this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”

Keith also worked with Eminem, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, and co-produced BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive,” and a bonus track from Beyonce’s live “Homecoming” album, “Before I Let Go.”

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Keith began posting songs to YouTube and hip-hop sites like Datpiff as a teenager. He met BlocBoy JB when he was 14 and the pair began making songs together. A few years later he worked with rapper Black Youngsta on his “Fuck Everybody” mixtape, but broke into the mainstream with BlocBoy JB’s 2018 hit “Rover.” Later that year, he helmed “Never Recover,” by Lil Baby and Gunna featuring Drake, but “Sicko Mode,” also release in 2018, was when he truly arrrived.

He was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 for that song, and in 2024 for Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.”

He was named producer of the year at BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards three times, most recently in 2024 for his work on “First Person Shooter” by Drake featuring J. Cole, “Meltdown” by Travis Scott featuring Drake, “SkeeYee” by Sexyy Red and “Circo Loco” by Drake and 21 Savage. He was also named BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriter of the Year in 2018.
