Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala Set for February 2027, a Tribute to the ‘Life and Legacy’ of Legendary Music Executive
by Jem Aswad · VarietyThe Clive Davis and Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at its longtime home of the Beverly Hilton, as always, the evening before the Grammy Awards. However, for the first time, the man himself will not physically be there, as Davis passed away on June 22 at the age of 94.
But he’ll definitely be there in every other way. According to the announcement, the show is “expected to feature spectacular performances from major artists while honoring the life and legacy of the late Clive Davis, the four-time Grammy winner created the Pre-Grammy Gala in 1976 and partnered with the Recording Academy in 2009 to present the star-studded event.”

Variety wrote of “the Clive party” in 2024: “It is truly fete like no other, a place where you can see Bey and Jay at one table and Barbra Streisand and Nancy Pelosi at the next, where you’re seeing completely unique performances by some of the biggest stars in the world: Highlights we’ve witnessed over the years include seeing Brandi Carlile sing ‘A Case of You’ to Joni Mitchell, Beck performing ‘The Man Who Sold the World’ with the surviving members of Nirvana, and Lionel Richie blowing the roof off the Beverly Hilton with a double shot of ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Dancing on the Ceiling.’”
Additional details will be released in the coming months.
“Clive built this gala into something the entire music community looked forward to for five decades. He never did it for applause or recognition. He did it because he loved this community, believed in the power of music, and understood what it meant to bring us all together to celebrate it,” said Harvey Mason jr., Grammys® CEO. “I was lucky to call Clive a friend and mentor, and working with him taught me so much. That’s exactly the spirit he brought to the PreGrammy Gala and I know he’d want nothing more than for the show to go on this year. It’s our honor to celebrate the legacy he left behind.”
