Chris Hemsworth in Talks For Disney’s ‘Prince Charming’ Film

by · Variety

Chris Hemsworth is headed to the steps of the palace.

The “Thor” actor is in talks to play the iconic fairy tale love interest in Disney’s upcoming “Prince Charming” film. Plot details for the picture are under wraps, and it’s not clear yet if the film will be live-action or animated. “Wonka” filmmaker Paul King will direct. King, Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker are co-writing the screenplay.

Aussie actor Hemsworth most recently voiced Optimus Prime in the animated sci-fi film “Transformers One,” and earlier this year appeared as deranged warlord Dementus in George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” opposite Anya Taylor-Joy.

King’s Timothee Chalamet-led “Wonka” was a commercial success for Warner Bros., earning $218 million domestically and $634 million at the global box office. King also directed 2014’s “Paddington” and its 2017 sequel, which earned a combined $615 million worldwide. He isn’t returning for the third film, “Paddington in Peru,” but he did contribute to its story.

Disney had no comment on Hemsworth’s casting.
