‘Death Boom’ Trailer: Documentary From Eli Roth, Jessica Chandler and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Investigates End-of-Life Industry (EXCLUSIVE) 

A trailer has been released for “Death Boom,” the forthcoming documentary exploring the multi-billion dollar death care industry. The film will make its world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Festival on June 9 in New York. 

From director Jessica Chandler, “Death Boom” will investigate the most pressing questions surrounding end-of-life choices and the impending death boom (hence the title), during which over a million Baby Boomers are expected to die over the next 15 years.

“Our funeral systems aren’t ready for the ‘Death Boom,’” reads the film’s official logline. “As morgues overflow and wallets empty, a broken, billion-dollar industry is exposed. But better options exist. This shocking, eye-opening and surprisingly uplifting documentary dives deep into the business of death, revealing who’s keeping it alive and why. With unprecedented access and bold voices leading a new movement, ‘Death Boom’ reclaims the end of life with humanity, sustainability and just the right dose of dark humor.” 

“Ice Cream Man” and “Thanksgiving” director Eli Roth serves as the film’s narrator, and will also appear in the documentary.  “Death Boom” is produced by a star filmmaking team, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Phillip Watson, Sean McKittrick, Raymond Mansfield. Previously, DiCaprio has produced films including “A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough,” “The Lake,” “Sleepwalker,” “Yanuni,” “Snow Leopard Sisters,” “Checkpoint Zoo,” “Path of the Panther” and many others. 

The film is Chandler’s  second documentary following her debut feature “A Fine State This Is.” Released in 2003, the documentary followed artist Fargo Deborah Whitman and her experience with dissociative personality disorder. 

Chandler and Roth both also serve as producers, with Edward H. Hamm Jr. executive producing. “Death Boom” is a QC Entertainment, The Horror Section and Appian Way production.
