Leading film sales agency Beta Cinema has announced that Moritz Hemminger has joined the company as head of sales and acquisitions. Alongside his acquisitions responsibilities, Hemminger will oversee sales across Spain, Australia and all Asian markets.

Based in London, he will lead the acquisitions and development of English-language feature films – a sector into which Beta Cinema has been strategically expanding in recent years.

Over the past four and a half years, Hemminger played a pivotal role in launching The Playmaker, where he served as head of sales and acquisitions and helped shape the company’s identity. More recently, he has championed an array of horror, thriller and sci-fi projects, establishing himself as a passionate advocate for bold, genre-driven storytelling.

Before launching Playmaker, Hemminger spent nine years at ARRI, collaborating with renowned directors including Caroline Link, Andrei Konchalovsky, Edgar Reitz and Christian Zübert, after having spent four years at Telepool/Global Screen. His strong industry foundation stems from his film production studies at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), complemented by a GWFF scholarship semester at UCLA and a collaboration with the story department at New Regency in Los Angeles.

Beyond his sales achievements, Hemminger actively supports emerging filmmakers through guest lectures at film schools and has served on juries for Germany’s Oscar contender selection. He has contributed to the German Films Distribution Support Committee and currently sits on the Bavarian Film Funding Commission (FFF Bayern) for International Co-Productions. Hemminger’s first official appearance in his new role will be at the European Film Market in February 2026.

“I’m delighted to welcome Moritz Hemminger to our team. Moritz not only has excellent industry contacts but is also a highly respected colleague who combines creative vision with sharp commercial instincts.” said Dirk Schürhoff, CEO of Beta Cinema.

“Moritz and I have been friends and industry peers for over a decade, during which I’ve seen him consistently set the standard for excellence in our field. It’s a privilege to welcome him as a partner in shaping Beta Cinema’s future,” Hallbauer said.

“Having long admired Beta’s commitment to championing visionary filmmakers, I am truly delighted to join this experienced team. I look forward to continuing to support distinctive storytellers and producers throughout the development, packaging and financing phase, to maximize both global recognition and sales for each of our partners’ projects,” added Hemminger.
