Gwyneth Paltrow-Inspired Musical ‘Gwyneth Goes Skiing’ Set for L.A. and New York Debut (EXCLUSIVE)

by · Variety

Gwyneth Paltrow-inspired immersive musical “Gwyneth Goes Skiing” is heading to Paltrow’s hometown following two sold-out London runs.

Producers Awkward Productions are taking the show to the U.S., with stops in Utah – where Paltrow lost half a day of skiing after a mid-slope collision with optician Terry Sanderson, who went on to sue her – as well as L.A and New York.

They will then be taking another of their Edinburgh fringe viral productions, “Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story,” on tour to Canada, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and continental Europe in collaboration with Goudie Events.

“Gwyneth Goes Skiing” retells the story of Paltrow’s legal battle with Sanderson with original music by Leland, vocals by Daren Criss and Cat Cohen and a video appearance from Trixie Mattel as Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother Blythe Danner.

“Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story” features Diana speaking her (un)truth from heaven as she finally tries to break free from the British monarchy.

Awkward Productions founders Linus Karp and Joseph Martin star in the shows, with Karp playing Paltrow and Princess Diana respectively and Martin playing Sanderson and Charles and Camilla.

“Gwyneth Goes Skiing” is set to touch down in the U.S. in Jan. 2025 in Utah followed by stops at Soho Playhouse in New York and The Elysian in L.A. at the end of January.

“Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story” will then travel to Thailand, Singapore, Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Auckland), Canada (Toronto, Calgary, Montreal) and Europe (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Malmö, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki).

U.K. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Pixie Polite will appear as pre-show support on dates in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

“Our plans for world domination and queering the globe are finally coming true,” said Karp and Martin. “Such a slay house down boots mama moment. A wise woman (Beyoncé) once asked: ‘Who run the world?’, and now we know that the answer to that question is AwkwardProds.”
