Donald Trump Alleges Rob Reiner Died ‘Due to the Anger He Caused Others’ From Having ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’

President Donald Trump commented on the shocking death of legendary film director Rob Reiner, who was found dead Sunday in his Brentwood home alongside his wife Michele Singer.

Trump blasted Reiner, who was strongly opposed to Trump’s politics and was a noted supporter of Democratic causes, as having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” in a post on social media Monday.

Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

The U.S. president continued: “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Variety has reached out to the White House for any additional comment.

Among Reiner’s remarks opposing Trump and his policies, the late director said in a recent interview with MSNBC that the U.S. is danger of becoming an “autocracy” if Trump is allowed to “control the media.”

“Make no mistake; we have a year before this country becomes a full-on autocracy, and democracy completely leaves us,” Reiner told MSNBC (since renamed MS NOW) in October. “And we’re looking at the election in 2026, and Donald Trump knows that in a free and fair election, he will lose. He will lose the House, the House will flip and will become in Democratic hands. There will be committee chairs who will be able to hold meetings, and this is the last thing he wants.”

The deaths of Reiner and Singer are being investigated as a homicide, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The couple was reported to have been stabbed to death.

Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of the couple, was arrested Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. and booked on suspicion of murder on Monday at 5:04 a.m., according to LAPD online records. His bail has been set at $4 million.
