Stephen Graham to Play Bruce Springsteen’s Dad in Jeremy Allen White Movie ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Stephen Graham has joined the cast of “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” the upcoming movie starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen.

Graham, whose credits include “Peaky Blinders,” “Snatch,” “Gangs of New York” and “This Is England,” will play the Boss’ dad, Douglas “Dutch” Springsteen, Variety hears.

The film, directed by Scott Cooper, is set to begin shooting sometime in the fall.

From 20th Century Studios, “Deliver Me From Nowhere” follows Springsteen during the making of his 1982 album “Nebraska,” a dark, stripped-down record that marked an artistic shift from “Born to Run” and “Darkness on the Edge of Town.”

The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, as well as Odessa Young, who is rumored to play a love interest. Variety reported in May that Jeremy Strong is in talks to portray Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager.

Graham’s other film roles include “The Irishman,” “Rocketman,” “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” He won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for playing Al Capone on “Boardwalk Empire,” and his other TV credits include “Little Boy Blue” and “Line of Duty.” Graham will soon be seen in Steve McQueen’s Oscar contender “Blitz,” Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance” and Johnny Depp’s “Modi.”

White, who has won two Emmys for his lead performance as Carmy Berzatto on FX’s “The Bear,” told Variety in June that he plans to do his own singing for “Deliver Me From Nowhere.” He has been in contact with Springsteen for the biopic and has said that the rocker has been supportive.

“Deliver Me From Nowhere” is based on Warren Zanes’ book of the same name. The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (“The Maze Runner” trilogy) and Eric Robinson, Cooper, Zanes and Scott Stuber are producers. Springsteen and Landau are also closely involved in the project.
