CBS Orders Comedy Pilot ‘Regency,’ From ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Alum Tara Hernandez
by Michael Schneider · VarietyCBS has ordered the pilot “Regency,” from “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” alum Tara Hernandez, to be put into consideration for the 2026-2027 TV season. The multi-camera sitcom, from Warner Bros. TV, is a period piece described as a “historical spin” on the typical family comedy.
Here’s the full logline: “A historical spin on the classic multi-cam family sitcom, centered around the upper-middle class Tillbrooks as they navigate life, love, and scandal in 19th Century England.”

“Regency” reps the latest comedy to be added to the Eye network’s laffer development roster, which has been busy in the past few weeks adding new projects to its year-round development strategy.
Also in the mix: “Checkpoint,” from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, set in the world of TSA officers — and starring comedian X Mayo, who created the project with Mike Sikowitz. The network is also developing the comedy “Auntie Supreme,” from CBS Studios and Cedric the Entertainer’s Bird & The Bear Entertainment, about a life coach who decides to co-parent her nieces with her brother-in-law. Gloria Bigelow, Christy Stratton are the writers behind that show.
And then CBS also has the comedy pilot “Eternally Yours,” from “Ghosts” executive producers Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. That project, about vampires who must accept that their daughter is dating a human mortal, has cast Ed Weeks and Jaren Lewison.
Those contenders could join a roster that includes established hits “Ghosts,” “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” and freshman entry “DMV.” (Another hit, “The Neighborhood,” will end its run this spring after eight seasons.)
Besides “Young Sheldon” and “The Big Bang Theory,” Hernandez’s credits include writing and serving as a creator on the series “Mrs. Davis” (which she created with Damon Lindelof). She’s also credited as a writer on a feature film in the works based on the animated series “Captain Planet.” In 2023, Hernandez was selected to be a part of Variety‘s “Variety500” list.
