Dimoldenberg launched “Chicken Shop Date” in 2014 and has since hosted 115 episodes of the series, a deadpan and flirty digital talk show driven by the host’s British comedic sensibilities and filmed in local chicken shops. While early episodes largely featured British rappers, Dimoldenberg eventually began to court A-list singers and movie stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Paul Mescal, Cynthia Erivo and even Paul McCartney.
“Chicken Shop Date” earned a 2022 Streamy Award win for best indie series, and Dimoldenberg was recognized on Time magazine’s inaugural Time100 Creators list in 2025. She also served as the Academy’s social media ambassador and red carpet correspondent at the Oscars for the past three years.
Dimoldenberg directs “Chicken Shop Date” and produces under her Dimz Inc. banner. Diara Vassallo Ndiaye and Zoe Dimoldenberg also produce, and Ashleigh Kybert is the head of content and social.
“From self-releasing our very first episode of Chicken Shop Date to partnering with Netflix, this journey has been all about connecting directly with people who love the show. I’m thrilled that our catalog is expanding its reach with Netflix, bringing our dates to a whole new world of fans without losing our original essence,” Dimoldenberg said.
Netflix’s licensing of “Chicken Shop Date” is part of the streamer’s broader effort to get into business with creators. In an attempt to compete with YouTube, the company has licensed a bevy of popular video podcasts and has greenlit some of its own. It has picked up food and cooking content from Mythical Kitchen and Nick DiGiovanni as well as children’s programming like “Danny Go!” And Netflix has also inked partnerships with media brands — including Variety — to license editorial content on the platform.
