Smartphones make photography convenient, but they also encourage taking dozens of pictures without much thought. Images appear instantly, unwanted shots are deleted, and the process becomes another task performed on a phone. Traditional film cameras offer a more deliberate experience, although film purchases and development costs can make casual photography expensive. The Flashback ONE75 attempts to recreate some of that experience using digital hardware.

Priced at $179, the Flashback ONE75 takes inspiration from classic half-frame film cameras. It combines aluminum body plates, brass controls, a portrait-oriented viewfinder, and a mechanical wind-on mechanism with digital photography. Instead of reviewing pictures on the camera, users transfer completed virtual rolls to the Flashback app, where they can choose between immediate viewing and a simulated development delay.
Aluminum plates and brass controls
The ONE75 builds on Flashback’s earlier ONE35 cameras, which recreated aspects of disposable film photography through reusable digital hardware. The new model moves toward the appearance of a traditional compact camera, replacing some of the earlier model’s plastic construction with aluminum top and bottom plates.
A brass shutter button and control dial add physical details associated with older cameras. Flashback offers the ONE75 in Brushed Aluminum and Noir finishes. The camera uses a portrait-oriented optical viewfinder, reflecting the vertical framing associated with traditional half-frame photography.
An OLED display on top allows users to select film styles and adjust settings. However, it isn’t intended for reviewing photographs, so users must wait until images are transferred before seeing their results.
Virtual rolls of up to 27 photographs
The ONE75 organizes photographs into virtual rolls containing up to 27 exposures. A mechanical wind-on control recreates part of the routine associated with film cameras, requiring users to advance between photographs.
Unlike actual half-frame film cameras, which typically increase the number of exposures available on a roll, the ONE75 uses its 27-shot limit as a digital shooting convention. It doesn’t require physical film, and users can begin another roll after transferring their photographs.
Flashback provides two viewing options through its companion app. Film Camera Mode introduces a 24-hour development delay, while Digicam Mode makes photographs available after they have been transferred. The delay is optional, and users can continue shooting once a roll has been transferred.
Eight film styles and double exposure
The ONE75 captures 13-megapixel photographs and includes eight built-in film styles. Users can select different looks directly on the camera using the control dial and OLED display. Flashback also advertises the ability to create custom film styles.
A double-exposure mode allows two photographs to be combined into one image, recreating a technique commonly associated with analog photography. The camera also includes a self-timer and tripod mount for compositions that require a stationary camera.
A built-in Xenon flash provides illumination for nearby subjects in darker conditions. The camera also features a 25mm threaded accessory mount for compatible filters and attachments, along with a replaceable glass lens protector.
Phone transfers and computer-based RAW export
The ONE75 uses internal storage and a rechargeable battery, eliminating the need for film cartridges or memory cards. Flashback estimates approximately 15 virtual rolls per charge, although actual endurance will depend on usage.
Photographs can be transferred to compatible Android and iOS devices through the Flashback app, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C connectivity available. Users can also connect the camera directly to a PC or Mac.
For photographers who want more editing flexibility, the ONE75 supports RAW export in DNG format. However, RAW files must be accessed through a computer rather than the smartphone app.
