These camera-free smart glasses get a tortoiseshell frame and polarized clips

The Even G2's new Brown 2 frames put a tortoiseshell pattern around the same camera-free display concept: translations, notifications and a teleprompter in your field of view. The new colorway launches October 26 for $649, alongside polarized clip-on lenses and a stainless steel chain.

This is a new look for the existing G2, not a new generation of smart glasses. If you've been considering the G2 we covered at CES, the choice now includes patterned brown frames in both Frame A and Frame B styles.

A pattern that runs through the frame

Brown 2's mottled brown finish isn't a pattern printed onto the surface. It runs through the frame material, with small variations from pair to pair. The frames are shaped, pressed, tumbled and polished.

The result is a more traditional eyewear look, especially in the round frame shown in the launch photos. The rectangular version keeps the same brown pattern with a different lens shape.

The $149 Even G2 Clip (Polarized) adds Silver Gray lenses, with separate versions for Frame A and Frame B. Pick the clip that matches your glasses.

The lenses are designed to cut reflected glare from surfaces such as roads and water, with specified 100% UVA/UVB protection. They attach in front of the existing lenses, so you don't have to swap the glasses for a separate pair of sunglasses when you head outside.

A chain for taking them off

The $79 Even G2 Chain is stainless steel with a sandblasted gunmetal finish. It lets the glasses hang around your neck between uses instead of leaving you holding them or finding somewhere to put them.

If the glasses stay on your face throughout the day, it's an accessory you can skip.
