Country music star Nathan Carter has become the latest inductee to The Late Late Show Country Music Hall of Fame.

He received the award on The Late Late Show Country Music Special on Friday night, presented by Patrick Kielty.

Last year's inductee Sandy Kelly announced Carter as the winner, with his parents Ian and Noreen and his granny Anne later joining him on The Late Late Show couch.

Receiving the accolade, Carter said that having his family there was "unbelievable. I just didn't expect it. Thank you so much. It's been 15, 16 amazing years since I left Liverpool and never dreamt (of this)... Starting off in pubs... back here tonight."

"Funny enough, we opened with Time of Your Life tonight and that was the first song I sang on The Late Late as a single, 13 years ago."

He is the youngest recipient of the award to date at 36 years of age.

A special tribute was made to the late Dolly Parton as part of the show.
