Hundreds of events take place to mark Culture Night

From Cork to Castleblaney, events have been taking place around the country for Culture Night.

Co Cork's Civic House Trust has marked its 20th birthday with a mix of workshops and performances, while the Everyman Theatre opened for backstage tours with ISL interpretation. In Tralee, Co Kerry, meanwhile, Siamsa Tíre saw Afrobeat dancers performing throughout the day.

The north-east has seen over 100 events. Dundalk, Co Louth ceramicist Sarah McKenna hosted a workshop. In Monaghan, beloved "King of Country" Big Tom was remembered on what would have been his 90th birthday with a tribute show, while singer-songwriter Ryan Sheridan performed at St Peter's Tin Church in Laragh, Co Wicklow.

In the mid-west, Co Limerick's history of silver and gold craftmanship was celebrated with the Our, Óir, Ore exhibition bringing visitors on a journey through 4,000 years of history, while nine artists came together at glór in Ennis, Co Clare to explore what happens when traditional Irish art forms meet contemporary creativity.

Meanwhile, at Pig Market Lane, in Longford Town, Palestinian Dabke Dance workshop and performance with Catherine Young Dance and the El-Funoun Dance Troupe, highlighting the eclectic nature of Culture Night nationwide.
