Irish artist Joe Caslin has unveiled his latest artwork 'Seen' in Dublin city centre ahead of Pride this weekend.

The 50ft installation features a young trans man and can be seen at 180-187 Townsend Street.

"It is ultimately about visibility. Not visibility as spectacle, but visibility as recognition - the simple act of acknowledging that someone is there, that their story matters, and that they belong," Mr Caslin said.

The mural is the result of a six-month collaborative design process between Mr Caslin and 12 LGBTQ+ Ukrainian refugees in Ireland.

"The artwork reflects their experiences, but it also speaks to something universal: the importance of being seen, heard and valued," he said.

The installation is just behind Pearse Street Garda Station

Mr Caslin’s ‘The Claddagh Embrace’ became an iconic image of the 2015 marriage equality referendum.

"Pride is a protest, yet there has been incredible steps made for our community but then in other cases, there hasn’t," he reflected.

"There’s a huge amount of negativity that’s driven towards those really vulnerable members of our community and we need to stand shoulder to shoulder with them and create points where they can feel that they can be present and that they can feel reflected in a place they call home."
