The Food Safety Authority (FSAI) has announced a recall of a sliced salmon product due to the presence of listeria.

The 400g pack of Wrights of Marino Sliced Smoked Salmon has a batch code of Yellow A38 and a use-by date of 06/10/26.

The FSAI said this batch of the salmon was being recalled "due to the presence of listeria monocytogenes".

People are advised not to consume this product.

The Authority said that "in healthy people, symptoms of listeria monocytogenes infection can include flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea".

"However, in people who are more vulnerable, the infection can be severe and can lead to serious complications," it said.

The FSAI says people should not consume this batch of the product

The FSAI said those who are particularly vulnerable to listeria monocytogenes infection include "pregnant women, infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems".

It said the time between initial infection and the first symptoms appearing is, "on average, 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days".

Retailers have been asked to remove the affected batch from sale and display recall notices.
