A Landmark Year: Celebrating Bonnie Comley & Stewart F. Lane’s 2025 Milestones
· New York PostBroadway in New York City has been the pinnacle of theatrical performances in the US for centuries now. It is where the most talented on-stage performers from across the world come to perform to leave a lasting impression on American audiences. It is a venerable cornerstone of the entertainment industry, which is what makes it so frustrating that so many people may not ever get the chance to visit in person. Travel into New York City is expensive, and the price of seeing a show on Broadway can be similarly steep. For years, this has put up obstacles between the performers and the audiences who so desperately yearn to see them. Fortunately, BroadwayHD changed all of that, thanks to its founders, Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane.
Comley and Lane: The Dynamic Duo
Founded by Comley and Lane a decade ago, BroadwayHD is a streaming service through which audiences across the globe can enjoy professionally recorded versions of these Broadway productions. Through these means, these shows were brought to people in wholly unprecedented and accessible ways. Now celebrating its decade anniversary, 2025 has been a whirlwind year for Comley and Lane, as they continue to push forward in artistic and innovative ways.
For this dynamic duo, New York City isn’t just where they work, it’s where they’ve lived, raised their children, built their careers, and found lifelong purpose. After decades of success on Broadway and beyond, the couple has made giving back to their hometown not just a priority but a mission. And in 2025, their commitment to the city and community that shaped them was unmistakable.
Producing, Writing, and Performing
In a city where ticket prices can make Broadway feel out of reach, the platform makes world-class productions accessible to studio dwellers, families in the outer boroughs, and theater lovers everywhere. Most importantly, subscribers know they’re helping keep the art form alive, preserving plays and musicals for future generations and extending the reach of these shows to global audiences who visit New York to see a Broadway show. The pair’s reach extends far beyond the streaming platform, though.
Comley and Lane also produced a Broadway show themselves this year, in the form of Glengarry Glen Ross, which premiered at The Palace Theater and broke box office records. While preparing this production, Lane also authored a book on the history of The Palace itself, a storied Broadway venue. The book’s publication celebrated the landmark’s reopening as part of the massive TSX Broadway project.
Comley’s Dedication to New York
Meanwhile, Comley dedicated herself to Central Park, where she co-chaired the Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon, an invitation-only tradition that raises over $4 million each year for maintaining the park so many New Yorkers rely on daily. She also supported global preservation at Save Venice’s glamorous masked ball, winning Best Venetian Mask while raising funds to protect centuries-old art and architecture.
In conjunction with this, she continued to chair the Drama League Awards, where she serves as President and has been a board member for 16 years. This year, she presided over the organization’s annual awards, supporting programs that help theater directors survive and grow in one of the world’s toughest cities. Elsewhere, the couple produced the new musical Burlesque in London’s West End and even joined the cast of Fahrenheit 451 at the Bay Street Theater for a limited run from October through November.
Next Year and Beyond
After all of that, the year concluded with a defining honor: being named Living Landmarks by the New York Landmarks Conservancy, recognition of their deep love for the city they call home. 2025 was a truly insane year for Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane, both exhausting and immensely rewarding. From BroadwayHD to being a part of several Broadway shows themselves, they have been busy. But the couple have never been ones to rest on their laurels and don’t plan to start now; they’re already looking ahead at what 2026 can bring.
