Strictly Come Dancing fans are in for a musical treat this weekend, as a popular rock band is set to make a comeback on the BBC One show.

Scottish-Northern Irish band Snow Patrol will perform live in the studio on Saturday, with their set airing on Sunday's results programme. The band, famous for hits like Run and Chasing Cars, was spotted rehearsing in London, according to the Mirror.

A source revealed: "Strictly always delivers when it comes to their musical performances and tomorrow night is Snow Patrol."

The show's celebrities and professionals are reportedly excited, with some of the latter set to perform during Snow Patrol's set.

Lead singer Gary Lightbody will make a comeback on the Strictly dance floor, with the source telling The Sun: "Fans will have to wait and see what it looks like on Sunday but it's gearing up to be really special."

Strictly has a history of hosting big-name performers, including Ellie Goulding and Jessie Ware.

This news comes after the announcement that BBC presenter Nick Knowles will return to the show. A BBC spokesperson confirmed: "We are all delighted that Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk will be dancing in this Saturday's show."

Nick has been given the all-clear to dance by the medical and physio teams after his injury last week. However, due to the time lost in training this week, they will be performing their Movies Week Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2.

The well-loved TV builder had to watch Movie Week on Strictly Come Dancing from the sidelines due to a second injury that stopped him from participating in the live show.

Nick had to withdraw from Saturday's performance following a "quite painful" knee injury sustained during Friday's rehearsal.

Taking to Twitter with a photo of himself watching the show from home, the DIY SOS presenter shared his frustration.

His tweet read: "Gutted not to be out there with everyone tonight on the @bbcstrictly dance floor, but still suited up and cheering them on from the sofa." (sic)

Support poured in from his fellow castmates as Movie Week got underway, with host Claudia Winkleman extending heartfelt wishes on air, saying: "Nick, we are sending you love and wishing you a speedy recovery."

With fans eagerly awaiting Nick's dance with partner Luba Mushtuka, the show's rules meant that their routine was automatically postponed to the next week's show.

During an appearance on Strictly: It Takes Two, Nick reflected on his accident and the moment he injured himself. He said: "During our first dress rehearsal today, or run-through of the dance number on the stage...

"Unfortunately I damaged my knee and it's quite painful. So the physios have decided I need to go for an MRI."

Luba also expressed her disappointment, stating: "Unfortunately we will not be dancing tomorrow but we really, really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and we'll be back on the dance floor. Fingers crossed, we really hope that we'll be back and see you guys very soon."

Nick updated his Strictly followers in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing: "I have to see how I get on - and then a decision will be made on Friday."

He added: "I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you for all the well wishes that I've received and encouragement from everybody. And I'm hopeful that I will be dancing on Saturday."
