A Hollywood legend has told how he died and came back to life after getting Covid-19. Godfather star Al Pacino says he was revived by paramedics in his home after taking ill.

The 84-year-old, who has a string of movie hits to his name, said he "died" during the pandemic in 2020 when he developed symptoms of the virus. He said: “I felt not good — unusually not good.

“Then I had a fever, and I was getting dehydrated and all that. So I got someone to get me a nurse to hydrate me.

“I was sitting there in my house, and I was gone. Like that. I didn’t have a pulse.”

Fortunately emergency services arrived swiftly to the address and revived him. He added: “In a matter of minutes they were there — the ambulance in front of my house," reports The Sun.

"I had six paramedics in that living room and two doctors, and they had these outfits on that looked like they were from outer space. It was shocking to open your eyes and see that.

“Everybody was around me, and said, ‘He’s back. He’s here’.”

The actor began his career in the 1960s but he became a household name after taking on the role of Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather in 1972. The role led to Pacino's first Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Over his career, spanning five decades, he has won a string of awards including a Best Actor Oscar for his role as a blind Lieutenant Colonel in the drama Scent of a Woman. Speaking to The New York Times he said he finds “consolation” in having his children.

His fourth child Roman was born last year. He added: “It’s natural to have a different view of death as you get older.

"It’s just the way it is. I didn’t ask for it Just comes, like a lot of things just come."
