BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland sparks concern as comedian predicts exit

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have voiced their worries over Chris McCausland after spotting an unsettling clue.

Leading the dance floor on tonight's programme with a Samba, a number of fans are labelling it the "death slot".

One concerned viewer took to social media, commenting: "They are putting Chris and Dianne first, hoping they will be in the dance off.!! Please vote for them. They are national treasures #Strictly." (sic)

Another concerned enthusiast shared: "Very concerned that dancing a samba and being first on means 'bottom two' for Chris this week. DO NOT MAKE THIS A REALITY. #scd #strictly."

A further remark spotted online said: "Chris was fabulous. It was definitely not his best dance, but I'm not worried about him going first. He was incredible."

"Chris going first and doing a Samba puts him at a disadvantage, he might need our votes tonight! #Strictly," chimed in another backer.

Expressing similar sentiments, one fan noted: "Chris and Dianne getting the death slot with a samba is all kinds of terrible luck. #Strictly."

In a chat with host Claudia Winkleman, Chris discussed the opening act's notorious "curse" and said things aren't looking good for him. He stated: "We have lost four people so far this series.

"Two of them on Sambas, and we have had four dance-offs and three of them are people who went on first, so the maths is against us this week."

This weekend, one famous pairing will be eliminated from the competition, and according to bookmakers, the odds are stacked against Gorka Marquez and Punam Krishnan.

Betway spokesperson Chad Yeomans shared his analysis: "This Halloween-themed weekend, Dr Punam Krishan could be in for a real fright as she is the 2/1 favourite to waltz off the show for good.

"The Glasgow-born GP is set to perform a spine-chilling Tango to 'Sweet Dreams' by Eurythmics, but she'll need a good week in rehearsals to avoid a nightmare on the dance floor."

Adding more, he said: "Ex-Olympian Sam Quek is also creeping into the danger zone, as she is the 3/1 second favourite to exit this Sunday. Meanwhile, Pete Wicks and Shayne Ward are both on thin ice and find themselves next in the betting to be taking their final bow on the show."

Reflecting on his recent departure from the show, Paul Merson expressed his feelings: "It's been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you've got to go on this show. It's amazing - everybody. There's a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln, and he's nice!"

Highlighting the support from his dance partner, Karen Hauer, he continued: "It's been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I've had a great teacher. She's been amazing, absolutely amazing, and I couldn't wish for a better coach.

"I've loved every minute of it. I can dance now. I won because I can dance. I couldn't dance before, but I can half dance now. It's a bonus, absolute bonus."

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
