Alisson Becker 'out of action for a while' as Liverpool star provides concerning injury update

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Brighton and has sparked concerns he could face 'a while' on the sidelines

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has sparked fears that he could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines by stating that he will be "out of action for a while" in an Instagram post.

Alisson has been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, where he will be replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili, and has also pulled out of the Brazil squad for the forthcoming international break.

He recently missed the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Galatasaray in Istanbul with what was described as a minor muscle issue, but he returned for the both the Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur and the 4-0 second leg victory over the Turkish side at Anfield on Wednesday.

But he was absent from the Reds squad which travelled to the south coast on Friday ahead of Saturday's 12.30pm kick-off.

Posting on Instagram on Saturday morning Alisson wrote: "Unfortunately I'll be out of action for a while. Already working hard to be back stronger. Thank you for the support."

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is likely to be asked about the fitness of Alisson prior to the Brighton game, with the Reds next in action against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup when they return from the international break on April 4.
