Crowds of shoppers swarmed Liverpool city centre on the last Saturday before Christmas. Images from the city centre today (Saturday) show throngs of people laden with bags full of Christmas gifts. Many donned festive outfits as they dodged crowds and darted between shops in search of last minute prezzies.

Pictures show a bustling Church Street as shoppers were entertained by buskers, and the lively Bold Street as stylish Liverpudlians scoured the shops for vintage bargains and unique pieces. Paradise Street was packed with Christmas shoppers, some weighed down with heavy bags.

Last night, revellers took to Liverpool city centre for Mad Friday, with many daubed in their festive finest, from Chrimbo three-piece suits to vibrant Christmas jumpers and even full Santa outfits.
