This year will see a new hotel open above the Cavern Club, with several photos available of what it could potentially look like. The ECHO previously reported that, as part of an agreement with Greenwood Developments and JSM, Hilton will debut its new brand Motto by Hilton in the city’s cavern quarter.
The space was originally signed off to feature 150 rooms. However, entrepreneur Craig Greenwood amended the plans and received the green light from the city council’s planning committee to nearly double this number.
The new plans suggest the hotel, called 'The Cavern Walks Hotel', will now have 283 guest rooms, including connecting layout options to create a multi-use space for larger groups. It will also boast communal spaces inspired by the vibrant Mathew Street below.
The planning proposals also reveal the hotel will have a reception area and food, beverage, entertainment, and function room space on the upper ground floor.
A standard room will be equipped with a walk-in shower, bathroom, wardrobe, mini fridge, safe, vanity unit, wall-mounted TV, side table, and a desk or wall ledge.
The hotel was due to open in 2025, however JSM’s property and assets manager Matt Crebbin confirmed to the ECHO that the “new target” is 2026. Until then, you can see for yourself an idea of what the hotel is expected to look like when it comes to the city later this year.
The proposed hotel will feature a number of tributes to The Beatles
