A popular fashion trend took over the opening day of the Grand National. While last year's most popular outfits included polka dots or buttery yellow tones, a host of this year's attendees were all wearing one particular colour.

Some couples coordinated their outfits, while others made a statement with bold prints and vibrant colours, but the biggest takeaway from today is that maroon is fashion and it is here to stay.

The Grand National always boasts the most phenomenal fashions and it was a delight to see everyone show up and show out in their best outfits. The Style Awards return for Ladies Day tomorrow to name the best dressed at the races, before making way for Saturday's grand showcase.
