Mariska Hargitay Twins With Daughter, 15, Ahead of Emmys Hosting Debut

2026 Emmy Awards host Mariska Hargitay was a vision in red on the red carpet with the full support of her family.

Hargitay, 62, stunned in a fitted beaded gown with a completely feathered skirt ahead of the Monday, September 14, ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Her 15-year-old daughter, Amaya, wore a mini matching version.

The mother-daughter duo were joined by Hargitay's husband, Peter Hermann, and the couple's sons, August, 20, and Andrew, 14.

Hargitay, who won her first Emmy statue in 2006, is set to emcee Monday's ceremony. She already took home two trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month for her directorial debut, My Mom Jayne. (Hargitay's documentary explored her late mother Jayne Mansfield's legacy.)

"I'm utterly overwhelmed, as you can imagine," Hargitay said in her September 5 acceptance speech. "I just wanted to share with you that it took me a while when I decided to make this film during the pandemic [in 2020], and then I started in 2022. It took me a while to realize that this was my story to tell. I didn't think that I could direct it, and so I just want to add something to Gloria [Steinem]‘s pointer and that is about telling your own story."

Steinem, who died on September 2 at the age of 92, had encouraged individuals to "tell your own story" in a Famous Last Words interview that aired following her death.

"I just want that invitation to go out, especially to women," Hargitay tearfully added in her speech. "I'm so excited to explore and to discover and to innovate new ways of hearing stories from half the world's population because we don't hear from you nearly enough. And I can't wait to get to know you. Thank you, this is meaningful."

Throughout her accomplished career, Hargitay has had the support of Hermann, 59, and their children. (The couple have been married since 2004 after meeting on the set of Hargitay's long-running procedural, Law & Order: SVU.)

"Marriage is not always like this, or any relationship that is deep in matters, but I have learned so much," the actress said during a 2024 appearance on Today. "Peter always says this beautiful quote about … breaking through marriage into marriage. And that is what I think we've lived because at this time in my life, I feel very different than I have for the last maybe 15 or 18 [years] - and I feel [assured] up in our love."
