Emmy Rossumhas a special Mother's Day celebration in store.

"[I will be] spending time with my kids," Rossum, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly at the New York City Ballet 2026 Spring Gala on Thursday, May 7. "I'll take them to swim and ballet in the morning and then we'll make - for the first time - a cherry clafoutis, which is like an eggy custard cake baked in a dish that has sugar and heavy cream."

She added, "I used to make that when I was a kid with my mom and so I'll get to share that with them."

Rossum and her husband, Sam Esmail, are parents of two. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in May 2021. Rossum later gave birth to baby No. 2, a son, in April 2023. (Rossum and Esmail, 48, have not publicly shared their children's names.)

To celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday, May 10, Rossum and her little ones will also be joined by the actress' mom.

"My mom will come over as well," the Shameless alum told Us. "So three generations of ladies will make this [cherry clafoutis], and also my son."

Rossum and the Mr. Robot creator seldom share updates on their family, though the actress has already tried to teach her daughter to embrace her natural beauty.

"I chemically straightened it for years and then I gave up. I also had a daughter and I was like, ‘You know, I should just start wearing my hair the way it is,'" Rossum said on The Kelly Clarkson Showin 2022. "Why should I tell her that she should make her hair look anything other than how it grows out of her head? So, I was like, ‘You know what, that's for her.'"

That same year, Rossum revealed that childbirth was nearly her "worst nightmare."

"I had this [mental] picture of me holding on [to the handle above the door] in the car with the baby coming out in the Uber," she recalled on Live With Kelly and Ryan in May 2022. "When you're in labor and they're driving to the hospital - I ended up getting a lovely and very conscientious Uber driver, which is not what you want when you're in labor. I want to go. If it's an orange [light], just take that as a green and go."

Rossum continued, "We were driving and we were a couple of minutes away from the hospital and I was fully in contractions and I didn't realize I was actually nine centimeters dilated at that point, so real close. I was basically 10 minutes away from having a child."

With her son, Rossum did not publicly announce her pregnancy.

"On a foggy Wednesday morning, our son was born," she wrote via Instagram in April 2023, alongside a photo of the baby's footprints.
