High Court bench in coastal region - Three-judge committee formed for review

Bengaluru, Sep 29: The chief justice of the state High Court has constituted a three-judge committee to review the feasibility of establishing a circuit or permanent bench of the High Court in the coastal region.

The committee comprises Justices Anu Sivaraman, S G Pandit, and Muhammad Nawaz.

There has been a long-standing demand to establish a High Court circuit bench in the coastal region for the benefit of the people of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, and Uttara Kannada districts.

It may be recalled that the chief justice of the High Court, during a recent visit to Mangaluru, had assured that the matter would be looked into. Acting on this assurance, the three-judge review committee has now been formed and an official order has been issued.
