Dino Morea arrested in Mithi River case over alleged Rs 65.54-crore BMC loss

Mumbai, Oct 2: Actor Dino Morea has been arrested by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with the alleged Mithi River desilting scam, according to a report by Mid-Day.

Morea was taken into custody on October 2 following nearly eight hours of questioning at his residence in Bandra, the report said.

The case relates to alleged financial irregularities in contracts awarded for the desilting and rejuvenation of Mumbai’s Mithi River. Investigators are examining the alleged involvement of contractors, intermediaries and civic officials in contracts and payments linked to the river-cleaning project. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is reportedly estimated to have suffered a loss of Rs 65.54 crore.

This is not the first time Morea has been questioned in connection with the case. In May 2025, Dino Morea and his brother Santino Morea were questioned by the EOW after investigators reportedly found phone records linking them with individuals connected to the probe.

The agency was also examining financial transactions involving Santino’s company, UBO Ridez, and people allegedly linked to the case. The investigation has focused on the flow of funds and alleged links between individuals associated with the civic contracts.

Ketan Kadam, who was arrested in 2025, is also among the accused in the case. Investigators have been examining allegations concerning the awarding of civic contracts and payments made for the Mithi River desilting and rejuvenation work.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been investigating the case. The agency had earlier conducted searches at Morea’s residence and other locations linked to people being examined in connection with the matter.

Morea’s arrest comes as the EOW continues its investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the Mithi River project and the suspected financial loss to the civic body.
