HBO Max orders new 'Adventure Time' spinoff, 'Bubblegum and Marceline'

The streaming service announced in a press release Wednesday that it has ordered a 10-episode first season of the animated series.
Bubblegum and Marceline will follow the characters of the same name. The Adventure Time series finale ended with the pink-hued princess and the punk-rock vampire queen as a couple.
The new show will see the pair "journey across the farthest reaches of Ooo, encountering familiar faces and new dangers," an official logline reads.
Fionna and Cake and Distant Lands creator Adam Muto will return as showrunner and executive producer.
"We can't wait to see where Adam's boundless imagination takes us in this new series. It's such a joy to go on another Adventure Time journey with our friends and partners at Cartoon Network Studios," HBO and HBO Max comedy programming EVP Amy Gravitt said in a statement.
The original Adventure Time was created by Pendleton Ward and aired for 10 seasons on Cartoon Network. Ward served as showrunner for Seasons 1-5, while Muto took over for Seasons 5-10.
