7 other voice roles from the 'Toy Story 5' cast
by Annie Martin · UPIJune 18 (UPI) -- Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return to voice the beloved characters of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie in Toy Story 5, opening in theaters Friday.
The new sequel in the Toy Story film series follows the trio and the other toys as they navigate the arrival of the tech-savvy tablet Lily (Greta Lee).
Hanks, Cusack, Lee and several other Toy Story 5 cast members have lent their voices to past animated films. Here's a list of seven other movies featuring Toy Story 5 voice actors.
Tom Hanks
Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 actor Tom Hanks, 69, first voiced Andy's loyal cowboy Woody in the original Toy Story, released in 1995. He has reprised the character in every sequel since, including Toy Story 5.
Hanks' other notable voice credit is the 2004 film adaptation of The Polar Express, directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis. The movie, based on the Chris Van Allsburg children's book, follows a magical train as it heads toward the North Pole for Christmas.
Hanks voices multiple roles in the film, including the narrator, the conductor and Santa Claus.
The Polar Express is available to rent on streaming platforms.
Joan Cusack
Working Girl actress Joan Cusack, 63, voices Bonnie's beloved cowgirl rag doll Jessie, first introduced in Toy Story 2. She has returned for each sequel, including Toy Story 5, which features the Taylor Swift song "I Knew It, I Knew You" about Jessie.
Cusack's other starring voice roles include Abby, the best friend-turned-love-interest of Chicken Little (Zach Braff), in Disney's 2005 CG-animated film Chicken Little. The movie reimagines the folk tale of a chicken who claims the "sky is falling."
Chicken Little is available to stream on Disney+.
Greta Lee
The Morning Show actress Greta Lee, 43, voices the new character Lilypad, aka Lily, in Toy Story 5. As a tech-savvy tablet, Lily causes a big commotion amongst Jessie and the other traditional toys.
Lee's other voice roles include the AI assistant Lyla in the critically-acclaimed animated films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), featuring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, a new version of the Marvel superhero Spider-Man.
Into the Spider-Verse can be streamed on Netflix, while Across the Spider-Verse is available on Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video and HBO Max.
Conan O'Brien
Former Late Night host Conan O'Brien voices the new character Smarty Pants, a potty-training device, in Toy Story 5.
O'Brien, 63, previously lent his voice to the 2017 CG-animated film The Lego Batman Movie as the DC Comics villain Riddler. Will Arnett voices Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, with Zach Galifianakis as the Joker.
The Lego Batman Movie is available to stream on Hulu, Prime Video and HBO Max.
Tony Hale
Arrested Development and Veep actor Tony Hale, 55, first voiced the plastic spork Forky in Toy Story 4 (2019). He reprises the googly-eyed crafted toy in the new sequel.
Hale's other voice work includes multiple roles in The Angry Birds Movie, a CG-animated 2016 adaptation of the popular mobile game. Hale plays the pig Ross and the birds Mime and Cyrus in the film and its 2019 sequel.
The Angry Birds Movie can be streamed on Prime Video and Paramount+, while the sequel is available on Tubi.
Craig Robinson
Comedian and The Office actor Craig Robinson voices the new character Atlas, a GPS hippo toy, in Toy Story 5.
Robinson, 54, also has a starring voice role as Mr. Shark in the 2022 CG-animated film The Bad Guys and its 2025 sequel. The movies follow a gang of animal criminals consisting of Mr. Shark, Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina) and Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos).
The Bad Guys and The Bad Guys 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
Keanu Reeves
John Wick actor Keanu Reeves, 61, returns to voice Duke Caboom in Toy Story 5 after debuting as the stuntman character in Toy Story 4.
Reeves also voiced Shadow the Hedgehog in the 2024 live-action and CG-animated film Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the third movie in the franchise based on the Sonic video game series.
Ben Schwartz voices Sonic, with Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 can be streamed on Prime Video, Paramount+ and MGM+. The original 2020 film is available on Prime Video, Paramount+ and YouTube, while Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) is on Netflix, Prime Video and Paramount+.
