Colin Woodell to play Myron Bolitar in new Harlan Coben series

July 6 (UPI) -- Colin Woodall has landed the lead role in the new show Myron Bolitar.

Netflix announced Monday that Woodall (The Flight Attendant, The Continental), 34, will play the title character in the upcoming mystery series.

Myron Bolitar is based on the character created by author Harlan Coben, who first appeared in his 1995 novel Deal Breaker. Myron is a onetime NBA hopeful who now gets wrapped up into "blackmail attempts, murder, and more" as a sports agent.

KJ Apa (Riverdale) co-stars as Myron's best friend Win Lockwood, with Diane Guerrero (The Lincoln Lawyer) as Esperanza Diaz, a former professional wrestler who is now Myron's right hand at the agency.

The TV adaptation hails from David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Kyle Long, who will serve as co-writers, co-showrunners and co-executive producers. Coben will also executive produce.

"What an honor -- not to mention, great fun -- it is to partner up at Netflix with legend David E. Kelley and his remarkable team on this exciting new series," Coben said in a statement to Netflix's Tudum. "The Myron Bolitar books mean a great deal to me, and I'm thrilled to have such a talented and inspired group bringing them to life."

Netflix has previously adapted several of Coben's works, including The Stranger, Safe and Fool Me Once.

The streaming service recently released Harlan Coben's I Will Find You, starring Sam Worthington and Britt Lower, and is developing an adaptation of The Woods starring Tom Bateman.
