May 18 (UPI) -- FX announced Monday that Very Young Frankenstein has been picked up to series for FX and Hulu. It is based on Mel Brooks' 1974 comedy Young Frankenstein.

Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells and Spencer House star, though their roles were not specified. FX Entertainment President Nick Grad called it "a completely original take on the classic story."

The movie starred Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, pronounced Frank-en-steen. Peter Boyle played his creature in Brooks' satire of the James Whale movies based on Mary Shelley's book.

Stefani Robinson, Taika Waititi and Garrett Basch created the show and executive produce with Brooks. Robinson wrote and Waititi directed the first episode.

This is the third recent revival of a Brooks film. Hulu streamed Brooks' History of the World Part 2 and Amazon MGM Studios produced the upcoming Spaceballs: The New One.
