Next's 25 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar (Image: Dayna Farrington)

I tried Next's £90 beauty advent calendar worth £380 to see if it's worth the money

by · Birmingham Live

I've always been a big fan of an advent calendar. Whether it was counting down the days enjoying my favourite chocolate as a child, or rushing out to buy my first beauty advent calendar when I got my first part-time job in the run up to Christmas as a teenager.

I even treated myself to the Lego Harry Potter advent calendar not so long ago as I find building the little sets and figurines quite therapeutic. I love the idea of counting down to December 25 as I'm a huge Christmas lover.

And the beauty advent calendars for 2024 are definitely not in short supply. One I was quite intrigued by when all the details were announced back in September was Next.

The high street giant has this year launched not one, but two beauty advent calendars at varying price points. For those seeking a more budget-friendly advent treat, the 25 Days Of Beauty Advent Calendar is priced at £90 and contains £383 worth of beauty products. But if you're looking to splash out, the Luxury Advent Calendar costs £170 and includes gems worth over £760.

So I got my hands on the 25 Days Of Beauty Advent Calendar is priced at £90 to give it a try. Inside you'll find £383 worth of products. Offering beauty fanatics a saving of nearly £300.

Beauty Advent Calendars 2024 Reviews

A product description on Next's website reads: "Open a new door each morning and welcome a pretty product into your regime from some of the biggest names in the industry including OSKA, Neom, Philip Kingsley and ICONIC London to name a few. Scrub, slather and spritz yourself beautiful with this goodie box filled with everything your hair, skin and body need to get you through the festive period in style."

Inside you'll find 12 full-size products, 11 travel-size products and four deluxe sample sizes. So there's actually 27 products hidden inside 25 doors! Even better in my eyes.

The packaging is just stunning - perfectly pink with little gold stars, a cracker and a marble effect. It looks so pretty. It opens up in a kind of way to be one side of a cracker, with 25 doors of all shapes and sizes.

I don't want to immediately spoil the contents of the 25 Days Of Beauty Advent Calendar to anyone who doesn't want to know, however if you do want to know, we've included a full list below, so keep scrolling. There were a lot of favourites I discovered in this calendar in particular and it was hard picking just five.

There were some that I will definitely be making part of my beauty routine after falling in love with them. And there were even some products, and brands, that I'd never heard of before. Here are my top five favourite products.

First up is the Brushworks Complexion Sponge, which is normally around £5. Earlier this year I ditched a make-up brush for a sponge and it's been game-changing. So I was delighted to see one of these pop up to add to my collection. It applies foundation and concealer flawlessly to my skin and helps to blend any make-up. I've not used the brand Brushworks before so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Next was the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Booster Restoring Conditioner. You get a 50ml sample inside but the 150ml bottle will set you back £30. I'm a huge fan of the original Elasticizer, the little gem was my holy grail during lockdown to boost my locks as I went weeks without a hair cut. So I was excited to see an extension to the product which claims it 'makes the effects last even longer'. You can use it daily after shampooing or leave it in longer as a mask. My hair already has seen an improvement after just one use!

While the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Moisture Essence is only a small sample bottle (28ml), but a little will go along way. The 100ml bottle retails for £62 on Next's website. Elemis is one of those brands that everyone knows and love - and I haven't tried many of their products. This is said to support firmness and elasticity for 'improved texture and youthful radiance'. Anything to give my skin a boost in the winter months I'm up for!

Fourth on my list was the NUXE Reve de Miel Nourishing Honey Lip Balm, which costs £13 full size - which you can find in the Next calendar. I love a good lip balm, especially in the colder months when you're more prone to chapped and split lips. And this is the perfect size to keep in my bag, or on my bedside table to apply before bed. This smells incredible too - a real honey mixed with grapefruit scent. I can't wait to make it a staple in my winter skincare.

And lastly was the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. Another travel size, but normally it can cost up to £65. I've been dying to try this since I heard it is one of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton's favourite products. It's a cult beauty favourite.

I thought the contents of the 25 Days Of Beauty Advent Calendar from Next was incredible. There's such a range of products inside - and Next isn't somewhere I'd often think to shop beauty for. It's definitely on my radar now! I'd get yourself one soon before they sell out!
