Jeremy Clarkson's pub The Farmers Dog unveils 'bargain' Christmas menu but fans have one big problem

by · Birmingham Live

Jeremy Clarkson has unveiled the Christmas menu at his Oxfordshire pub, The Farmer's Dog. The former Grand Tour presenter's pub has been a huge success, attracting not only locals but also visitors from far and wide who come to sample his Hawkstone beer and locally sourced produce.

Clarkson, 64, has now shared the Christmas menu on the pub's Instagram page, sparking a mix of excitement and disappointment among fans. The menu features a range of locally sourced and British farmed food, and Christmas bookings are now live online.

Clarkson posted a picture of the menu, saying: "Our Christmas menu is out - what do you think? All locally sourced and reared British farmed food and Christmas bookings are now live on line! If you want to book Wednesday to Saturday, from the 2nd December onwards it's available - Sunday there will be a Christmas carvery - if you want to book a Christmas party for 7 or more see our website and send us an email...better move fast! "

Many fans have expressed their delight at the announcement of a competitively priced £40 three-course Christmas meal, with several taking to social media to voice their approval.

One enthusiast commented: "Wow that's actually really reasonably priced. Absolutely shocking what some of the places up here in Manchester charge on their Christmas menu."

Another chimed in: "I think that's very cheap for a Christmas menu. Especially for your location. I'm in an area a lot cheaper than the cotswolds and it'd still be twice that price round my way.", reports the Mirror.

However, not all feedback was positive. A number of people shared their disappointment over difficulties in booking a table, with one lamenting: "Tried every date in December - nothing available. Nothing in November either" and another asking: "How is there no tables already? " The dessert selection also didn't escape criticism, as one person suggested: "It's okay, but take away the bread and butter pudding. It will be horrible."

The celebrity who made the switch from fast cars to farming has recently purchased a somewhat dilapidated pub near his much-loved 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds. This farm has been the hub for all activities related to his Amazon Prime Video documentary series, "Clarkson's Farm," which is gearing up for its fourth season, expected to premiere in 2025.

The 64 year old's foray into the hospitality sector is likely to be a major feature in the upcoming season of the show. The pub will serve his favourite Hawkstone lager and cider, along with other Diddly Squat products such as their gin and fizz.
