'Phenomenal' Birmingham burger joint where kids get headphones and movie so parents can 'relax'

Yardbirds also offer £1 meals for kids while adults tuck into the 'completely delicious' food

A popular independent restaurant revered for its fried chicken, vegan options and bottomless wings nights is offering children headphones, movies and £1 meals on weekends to give parents the chance to 'relax' while they enjoy the 'phenomenal' food.

Yardbirds, on the trendy Pershore Road in Stirchley, runs a 'Kids Film Club' on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm until 5pm, when youngsters get their own headphones to tune in to a film while they eat. Their main is £1 when adults buy a main of their own.

Food options for adults include the £10.50 classic Yardbird buttermilk chicken burger alongside buffalo burgers, burgers slathered in gravy and barbecue options. There are also a number of vegan and veggie burgers, with halloumi and vegan chicken.

Chicken strips, wings and dishes like chicken and waffles are also on the main menu. Sides include wings, mac and cheese, frickles and salads with prices starting at £4.50.

Kids get to choose from items from the 'Little Cluckers' menu with a choice of mac and cheese with ciabatta garlic bread, strips and chips or a Yardbird burger. They're all £6.50 if you buy a meal outside of the £1 offer, though for a tenner you can have the meal with a drink and ice cream for afters.

Yardbirds opened in Stirchley back in 2022 and has been received to great reviews. We wrote about our visit last year but other Brummies added their voices to the mix, giving the restaurant an overall rating on Google Reviews of 4.5 out of five.

Aimee gave it a rave review, writing: "Yardbirds is the opposite side of Birmingham to where we live, but it's so worth the travel. Their chicken is phenomenal. The coating is so perfect! Even the simple 'strips and chips' option feels special."

Alice added: "We had a really lovely meal here for a friend's Birthday. It was midweek but the atmosphere was good and the food was completely delicious."

Amara commented: "So lovely! Such lovely staff and a lovely meal! Their American mustard gravy is unreal! Will definitely be back! We noticed aswell that the small children had been given headphones and a screen to watch children's films on a projector screen - so adorable! Seems like a place great for all ages!"
