The Voice UK fans issue same complaint as winner is crowned after major voting change

The Voice UK final caused quite the stir among viewers with fans expressing dissatisfaction over the show's format.

In a dramatic finale of ITV's popular talent show, contestants Deb Orah, Storry, Ava, Billy, and Louie battled it out on stage for the title and the lucrative rewards that come with it.

Voice coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will. i.am, LeAnn Rimes, and McFly duo Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones were all present, eager to see their picks vie for victory.

When the curtain fell, it was Ava, mentored by McFly's Tom and Danny, who wowed the judges and live audience, securing her spot as The Voice UK 2024 champion.

Alongside the kudos, Ava received a recording contract with Universal, £50,000 in cash, and a trip to Universal Resort in Orlando.

However, her triumph wasn't the sole focus that evening as backlash ensued from home audiences, displeased with the revamped show structure.

The major change that was introduced was eliminating the public vote in favour of exclusive studio audience balloting.

And fans didn't delay in airing their grievances on X, previously known as Twitter.

Comments ranged from begrudging acceptance of the winning outcome to frustration over the axing of public involvement in the decision-making process.

One viewer posted: "Despite it being a s*** format with no public vote, the right person won! Well done, Ava #TheVoiceUK."

Another remarked, "@hlt_ja, Well, I'd have voted for Ava, but unfortunately, the viewing public can't vote for the winner, so that's that then #TheVoiceUK."

One viewer expressed: "I think the Public should vote on #TheVoiceUK, not the audience."

Another chimed in with: "@ ITV, please can we have the live finals back, giving the public the vote @thevoiceuk #thevoiceuk."

However, some viewers were delighted that Ava clinched the title as one fan shared: "Finally fixed for the right person to win #TheVoiceUK."

Another commented: "I'm so happy that Ava won @thevoiceuk bless her and congratulations. And another added: "@TomFletcher and Danny for their first ever win as coaches! Maybe I'll be on your team next year haha #TheVoiceUK"".

Becky Hill is arguably The Voice UK's most notable success story as the 30-year-old was part of Jessie J's team and made it to the semi-finals.

Since then, she has collaborated with some of the world's top DJs, including David Guetta, MK, Oliver Heldens, Joel Corry, and Wilkinson.

The Voice is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
