BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans say dancer's 'insufferable' - and it's not Pete Wicks

One of the 2024 Strictly cohort is rubbing die-hard fans up the wrong way - for "overconfidence". You might think that person would be Pete Wicks - who admitted before it was aired he was likely to annoy people - but it wasn't

Shayne Ward, the former X Factor winner, delivered a confident performance on Strictly Come Dancing, but it didn't sit well with some viewers. He and his dance partner Nancy Xu performed a samba to Stevie Wonder's hit 'Do I Do', but the routine and seventies styling left some fans unimpressed.

One viewer commented: "The overconfidence is actually something I'm not enjoying about Shayne right now. No question, he's good but he's NOT the master of all things dance."

Another said: "Shayne Ward did well for week 1, but there just something so cringe about the guy."

Yet another added: "Find someone who loves you as much as Shayne Ward loves himself."

A different viewer simply stated: "Hes insufferable."

Despite the criticism, many acknowledged the 39 year old's flair on the dance floor. One fan noted: "For week one he totally smashed it, he will let negative comments go over his head and he will prove them wrong as the weeks go on."

Shayne's wife, actress Sophie Austin, was seen proudly clapping in the audience alongside her father, Austin James.

The Manchester-born star won the second series of X Factor in 2005, beating Andy Abraham and Journey South.

He subsequently secured a recording contract with Simon Cowell's Syco label, leading to the release of several successful singles.

Among Shayne's most notable hits is his debut single, That's My Goal, which topped the charts in the UK.

In 2018, his character tragically took his own life on Coronation Street.
