Actor Rajinikanth watches ‘Jailer 2’ in theatre with fans

The sequel also brings together actors from different film industries, including Vidya Balan, S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jatin Sarna.

New Delhi: Actor Rajinikanth surprised his fans as he joined them in the theatre to watch his latest film “Jailer 2”.

The film, which is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, released on October 15 and is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster “Jailer”. It features the actor in the role of retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian.

The sequel continues the story of the character, also known as Tiger, whose peaceful life is disrupted by a new threat from the criminal underworld.

Production banner shared the video, which featured the actor in the theatre on the X handle on Saturday. “For the first time in 40 years, Superstar Rajinikanth joins fans to witness #Jailer2 on the big screen! #Jailer2 Industry Mega Blockbuster. #Jailer2 Rampage in theatres worldwide.” read the caption.

The film reunites Rajinikanth with director Nelson and music composer Anirudh Ravichander, who also collaborated on the first instalment. Kalanithi Maran has produced the movie under the Sun Pictures banner.

The ensemble cast includes Ramya Krishnan, who returns as Rajinikanth’s wife, alongside Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Vinayakan.

Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar also feature in the film, reprising their roles from the first instalment.
