Free entry to Telangana Heritage Department Museums on International Museum Day

The Department of Heritage Telangana is organising a programme with a special talk, exhibition, book release and other events at the State Archaeology Museum at the Public Gardens at 3 pm on May 18.

Hyderabad: On the occasion of International Museum Day on Monday, May 18, the Department of Heritage Telangana has announced free entry for visitors under its purview.

Those museums include the Heritage Museum at Gunfoundry in Hyderabad, Telangana State Archaeology Museum at the Public Gardens in Hyderabad, and the District Archaeological Museums in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahabubanagar, Warangal, and the Site Museums at Alampur in Jogulamba Gadwal and Kondapur in Sangareddy district, among others.

On the occasion, a special talk will be delivered by Anuradha S Naik on the topic “Museums uniting a divided world, Hyderabad: A case study,” at an event being held at the Telangana State Archaeology Museum in the Public Gardens at 3 pm on Monday.

The books titled “Paramara Inscriptions in Telangana” written by Dr E Sivanagi Reddy and Dr P Nagaraju, and “Stucco Artifacts displayed at Centenary Heritage Museum” written by Dr BS Rajendra Babu and Dr P Nagaraju will be released on the occasion.

Brochures of the Site Museum in Kolanpaka and Site Museum in Alampur, along with a poster titled “Tourist guide in Telangana” will be released as well.

A special exhibition on the monuments of Telangana will be displayed, and a classical dance by Dhanyatha Kakani will be performed at the event.

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Jupally Krishna Rao; Special Chief Secretary of Youth Affairs, Tourism and Culture Vani Prasad; Board Member and International Council Chair, World Monument Fund (WMF) Shalini Bhupal; Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hyderabad Circle Dr Nikhil Das N, and other dignitaries will attend the event.

The programme is being organised by the Department of Heritage Telangana, in collaboration with the Deccan Heritage Academy Trust, and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Telangana State Chapter.
