Hyderabad: The wait for Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited portrayal of Lord Ram is almost over, and the excitement surrounding Ramayana: Part One is now translating into big numbers at the box office. With just two days left for its grand worldwide theatrical release, the epic has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in global advance bookings, setting the stage for a massive opening.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra, the upcoming epic is witnessing a significant surge in pre-sales, with the latest figures highlighting the anticipation surrounding one of the most ambitious Indian films of 2026.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Ramayana: Part One has generated over Rs 72 crore in domestic advance bookings, including blocked seats, for its opening weekend. Overseas pre-sales have contributed more than Rs 40 crore, taking the film’s worldwide advance-booking gross beyond Rs 100 crore.

The milestone is particularly significant, as only a handful of Indian films have managed to achieve such a feat before their theatrical release.

Ramayana advance bookings gain momentum

Advance bookings for Ramayana: Part One opened on Dussehra, October 15, giving the film a 15-day pre-release window. While the film witnessed a strong start on the first day, its booking pace eventually plateaued.

The initial slowdown was largely attributed to limited show availability, as the Hindi version was the primary one open for advance bookings during the first few days. Several single-screen theatres and smaller centres were yet to open bookings, reportedly due to ongoing negotiations between the film’s distributors and exhibitors over revenue sharing.

The stalemate eventually ended last Friday, leading to the addition of more screens and a fresh wave of advance bookings over the weekend.

The film has now sold nearly 15 lakh tickets across India in pre-sales, with premium formats such as IMAX emerging as major contributors. These formats account for almost one-fourth of the total advance sales despite representing only around 4 per cent of the available screens.

Movie eyes a massive opening

Crossing Rs 100 crore in worldwide advance bookings is a rare achievement for an Indian film. In the past, only a select few blockbusters, including Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa 2 and Dhurandhar 2, have managed to reach this milestone.

With its pre-release momentum picking up pace, Ramayana: Part One is now tracking towards a massive opening day and is aiming for a place among the top five biggest opening-day grossers in Indian cinema.

Considering the film’s strong advance bookings, growing audience anticipation and massive scale, Ramayana: Part One is also expected to emerge as the first Rs 1,000 crore film of 2026. However, its eventual box-office performance will depend on audience reception, word of mouth and its ability to sustain momentum after the opening weekend.

Ramayana: Part One cast and release date

The upcoming 2026 epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is among the most anticipated Indian releases of the year, with its grand scale and star-studded cast adding to the excitement.

Ramayana: Part 1 is set to hit theatres worldwide on November 5. With advance bookings already crossing the Rs 100 crore mark, all eyes are now on its opening-day collections.
