Ex-NBA star arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of DUI, speeding
by Alan Halaly / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalFormer NBA basketball star Lamar Odom was arrested in Las Vegas on Saturday morning under suspicion of a DUI, speeding and an improper lane change, according to news reports and court records.
The 46-year-old, arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday and appeared to still be in custody early Saturday afternoon, jail records show. TMZ first reported the news of Odom’s arrest.
According to court records, Odom was also accused of speeding at least 41 miles above the limit.
“The Nevada Highway Patrol a division of the Nevada State Police, arrested Lamar Odom for speed and suspected impaired driving Saturday morning,” Highway Patrol trooper Shawn Haggstrom said in a text message. “This is an active and ongoing investigation, further information is not available at this time.”
Odom, who played 14 NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks, has been public about his struggles with drugs and alcohol.
His first DUI arrest occurred in Los Angeles in 2013, also the year his relationship ended with reality star Khloe Kardashian.
At a Nye County brothel in 2015, Odom nearly died from a drug overdose — an incident that garnered national attention. While being treated at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, he suffered twelve seizures and six strokes, and his heart stopped twice, according to a 2025 blog post from the Harmony Place rehab in Los Angeles.
A status check for the new charges is scheduled for March 17, according to court records.
