Coverings 2026 draws thousands of industry professionals

by · Las Vegas Review-Journal

Thousands of industry professionals attended North America’s largest international showcase of ceramic tile and natural stone at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 30 to April 2.

Coverings 2026 celebrated the beauty and versatility of ceramic and porcelain tiles. The four-day event showcased tile and stone products from hundreds of global exhibitors, highlighting a vast array of indoor and outdoor designs and installations for residential, commercial, industrial and hospitality spaces.

Alena Capra, interior designer/owner of Alena Capra Designs, certified master kitchen & bath designer and Coverings Industry Ambassador, collaborated with Interior Design Magazine’s Helene Oberman to reveal the highly anticipated Top Ten Tile Trends of 2026 in honor of National Tile Day, Feb. 23.

This year’s trends range from the graphic precision of Articulated Accents and metallic details of the Gilded Age to the serene greens of Jade Terrain and the tranquility of Organic Minimalism.

“National Tile Day was an outstanding opportunity to spotlight the tile trends defining this year’s surface design,” Capra said. “The trends highlight tile as both a creative medium and a high-performing design-build solution. Tile pairs bold expression with the real-world demands of durability, hygiene and sustainability. Above all, these trends celebrate the talented global tile industry, driving the business forward and the remarkable possibilities it provides.”

Q. What trends were introduced at Coverings this year?

A. This year’s show introduced emerging tile and stone trends, the newest collections, and innovative materials, focusing on advances such as large-format panels and machinery that reflect ongoing technological progress in the industry.

Q. What are the top tile trends you’re seeing in the marketplace?

A. We have seen a lot of beautiful new tile trends emerge for 2026, ranging from Organic Minimalism to Tile as Art.

The Organic Minimalism trend features tiles with a very soft, calming palette, representing a return to structured, quiet spaces.

Tile as Art brings larger-scale murals to life, with durable surfaces that work anywhere — indoors, outdoors or even in wet areas. The ability to see so many beautiful textures, reliefs and carved effects on tile is a testimony to the industry’s technological advancements.

The Haptic Experience goes beyond visual appeal into a multi-sensory experience that engages the senses. Textures range from subtle ridges and embossed patterns to deeply undulating surfaces, inviting touch. It creates a human connection with materials.

Subtle or bold, whatever you like, this year’s trends have it all!

Q. How does tile play a role in the overall design/aesthetic? What is the benefit?

A. Tile plays a big role in the overall design aesthetic, as it can cover large areas in homes or commercial spaces. Sometimes, it allows a surface, say the main floor, to set a nice, calm tone for the space. Other times, the designer can make a bold pattern or statement wall or floor. The best part is that no matter what you choose, there are many benefits to using tile, such as its resistance to scratches and stains, durability and low maintenance. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use and even wet areas. Tile is very versatile!

Q. What are the popular choices for flooring, wall applications, shower surrounds/bathrooms and fireplaces? Please explain.

A. Homeowners are gravitating toward larger format, durable materials like porcelain tiles for walls and floors.

In warmer climates, seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces is popular, using color-coordinated, slip-resistant tile in outdoor areas. For floors, larger-format tiles in subtle tones such as warm taupe, beige and greige are popular, as are wood-looking porcelain planks in a variety of looks. Mosaic and smaller-format tile remain popular for bold flooring patterns, accent walls and fireplace surrounds. Porcelain panels and slabs are also popular for cladding accent walls, fireplace surrounds, shower walls and surfacing.

One of my favorite ways to use tile in a home is by pairing different tiles in a design, such as mixing texture with smooth, larger with smaller and subtle formats alongside a cool accent tile or mosaic. There are so many opportunities to bring color and texture to a home with tile. The design possibilities are truly limitless.

Q. What color palettes are trending? Are you seeing more color being introduced?

A. Warmer tones are prominent in current design trends, with warm white, soft beige, taupe, terracotta and chocolate brown gaining popularity. While tile often serves as a statement piece, a mix of colors is also common. Green shades are especially notable this year, with our “Jade Terrain” trend featuring tiles from soft sage to emerald. Blue remains a popular choice for accent tiles. Ultimately, the selection of neutrals or colors depends on the project and the homeowner’s preferences. Color may appear in the veining of stone-look tiles or in the patterns of smaller decorative tiles.

Q. Are you seeing patterned tiles making a comeback? Are any other styles coming back into the market?

A. Patterned tile is making a strong comeback.

One trend I like is called “Tailored Craft.” These tiles feature printed patterns inspired by fine fabrics and men’s suiting, with looks that evoke linen, stitching and even leather.

We see playful geometric patterns and touches of metallic, such as gold, bronze and copper. Murals and detailed, stylized designs are now being printed on large-format tiles, panels and slabs, creating a bold, eye-catching effect.

Q. How about texture? Is that still being utilized extensively in high-end designs?

A. Texture is key to the tile trends this year! From raised patterns that feel more subtle to bolder three-dimensional designs, there are plenty of options. Even in a more organic and minimalist style, we are seeing these softly striated stone looks. It’s all about that tactile experience with tile. This is a perfect look for an accent wall, especially when lit well to play to all the beautiful textures.

Q. How did these trends come to life at Coverings 2026?

A. Every booth at the show featured beautiful tile installations and design inspiration for all things tile and stone. Interior designers, architects, contractors, installers, fabricators, distributors, retailers and other tile and stone professionals were able to experience hands-on trend-related activations, education sessions, panels, presentations and live demonstrations.

Q. Were there any specific exhibits, features or activations that highlighted these trends in a unique way?

A. This year’s exhibits highlighted tile trends in a variety of formats. Attendees could join show floor tours, attend live trend sessions at the Coverings stages and visit the University of Nevada, Las Vegas exhibit in The Coverings Lounge. Senior-level architectural design studio students from UNLV created a lounge-study grotto by designing and installing a suite of tiled furniture, including tables, chairs and lamps. The lounge’s inviting “old school” theme and earth-toned mosaic-tiled furniture offered attendees a comfortable retreat from the busy show floor.

Q. How does Coverings differentiate itself as the place to discover what’s next in tile and stone?

A. Coverings is the largest tile and stone exhibition in North America, featuring tile and stone from around the world. Distributors, retailers, stone fabricators, contractors, specifiers, architectural and design professionals, builders and remodelers attend to explore the latest trends, source global products, network with industry peers, gain project inspiration, access information and discover solutions to grow their business.

Many top tile trends appeared throughout the show floor in various booth installations and applications. Each manufacturer interprets trends differently, so the most exciting part is discovering them as you walk the aisles of tiles at the show.
